This buffet is the last of the McCleary set and is stunning. The picture just above is a pretty good representation of the original paint color on the buffet and dining set. You can tell from the first picture that the piece is nothing short of amazing and we could see all of the elements we had to work with. (And if you follow regularly you have heard me go on and on about them.)
After
As mentioned in previous posts we painted this white (Benjamin Moore Aura paint) and glazed in a deep rich chocolate brown.
The wood grain on the surface is gorg-e-ous and Lisa was right on when she wanted to strip the previous paint and stain. It has a very rich elegant feel now. An element to watch for on old buffets are the little back splashes. This one has all of the lovely curves to match the buffet and table legs along with the chairs. 
There was no need to change out any of the hardware on this one. Especially because this was Lisa's grandmother's she wanted to preserve its look and feel. The dangly pulls on the big drawers and the little knobs on the doors already complimented the whole look and feel of the piece.
Notice the spindled wood work design on the doors that match the same design on the long length of the table that I pointed out yesterday. We just are always amazed at the attention to detail on these older pieces and appreciate the design.
Once again the beautiful honeycomb cylinder elements on all of the legs of this set provide such a unique flair. The detailed bar running between the legs match the same design on the chair legs.

You did a wonderful job on that. I have a similar dining set. I was told it was from the Jacobean era. The table I have is just as detailed on the legs with slide outs for extending the table. I love it! I have a small desk that is similar. I think it's time I do something similar to this with the paint.
