The Annalee Dresser - Custom Refinish Before & After

Photobucket

So there are a few of these little french provencial dressers with the gold trim and the slightly yellowed finish. Well these little ladies sure clean up nicely when they are dusted with a coat of white paint for a fresh clean feminine look.

The Cutler Dresser Set Part 1 - Custom Refinish Before & After

Don't forget to enter our
Our winner will be announced on Sunday March 27th!

Before One of our wonderful clients referred us to her sister-in-law who wanted to update her Broyhill dresser set and king size bed. I was excited to see the warmth of the dark wood and then was happy of course when she picked my favorite color - white! This stain pops so magically against the white.

After
The white finish gives it a nice clean crisp look. We updated the hardware with decorative knobs and the hood cup pulls.
I often hear from readers that they cannot believe the difference a coat of paint can make and I cannot agree with them more. It really converts a piece that you have had around a while into something brand new. It can change the look and feel to an entire room.
I am teasing you with the nightstands and will be posting both the long and tall dressers in the next couple of days.
They were debating on re-attaching the mirror to the long dresser or hanging it directly on the wall. Or perhaps it ended up in another room altogether. Dresser mirrors really are not just for dressers - they are so functional in many ways.

Stay close for the reveal of the rest of their set. We are also working on a long dresser, mirror, and nightstand for their sweet girls.

And speaking of girls we just finished a very huge dresser for our girls as well. I am so happy with the results! And the extra storage will be divine!

The Bodey Dresser Set - Before & After

BeforeThis is a 1976 Thomasville four piece dresser set we picked up a few months back. We recognized all of the lovely curved and contours from the get go and was excited to finally get to work on the set. After We opted for black in color because the pieces were more elegant than vintage. The door on the nine drawer dresser is contoured and provides another level of dimension to the piece. You can see at the base of the dresser the different levels of details. The drawers also have several levels of detail which highlight the new oil rubbed bronze pulls we used to enhance the beauty of the set and give it a bit of an update. I have been wanting to use these pulls for some time now and I think they work wonderfully on this set. Before After This four drawer tall dresser is where you can really identify the beauty of the rounded posts on each end.

The distressing really highlights all of the detail on the drawers and at the base of the dresser.
I neglected to get a before photo of this little nightstand but here is the after.

I imagine this set in a master bedroom or a guest room. Black is so versatile and splashes of color can change the look and feel of the room throughout the year.
Yes indeed, I plan to use the knobs and pulls on more pieces. They are functional and simple. There are so many elements happening on these pieces and we wanted something that blended in nicely so as not to take away from the overall design. I have to say these did the trick. Before
After
I cannot tell you how tempted I have been just to keep this mirror for myself. It is quite large and would work beautifully in an entry way or leaning on a side table or above a bathroom sink. The curves at the top along with the wood embellishment are brilliant.
I am off to tape a fun segment with Studio 5 this morning. We have a fresh blanket of snow on the ground and the air is crisp and cold. We are looking forward to the weekend and finishing up some furniture projects. We are working on an old Thomasville hutch and a buffet that we plan to finish in a white - with perhaps a splash of grey here and there. I cannot wait to see how it all works out!

Happy Friday!

The Paige James Dresser - Custom Refinish Before & After

Before For those of you who have been reading this blog for a while know how much I love old dressers that sit up on legs. They are sooooo my favorite! This one is no different and along with it comes a beautiful mirror as an extra bonus!

After
This dresser belongs to a client in Beaver. She drove close to three and half hours one way to bring us this piece, a headboard, and a hutch! She is so cute and pregnant with her fourth baby. She was initially told she was having a boy which would make two of each. And then - what do you know - her next ultrasound told a different story and now there will be three sisters in the house!
And this sweet dresser is going in her oldest daughter's room. These little dressers are so perfect for a girl's room. The white has such a fresh clean look!
This sweet little backsplash is what connects the mirror to the dresser. It has feminine curves and gives it a unique look.
Jodi opted for the beaded sunburst hardware on the two top drawers and the little teardrop dangly pulls on the two bottom drawers. I love this combination and actually have one quite similar in my home. The dull brassy pulls compliment the old keyholes perfectly and really helps them pop. This dresser has the old paneled look on the sides. I love the depth this provides! And the casters on the legs helps maintain the age of the dresser.
The curved detail at the bottom once again adds a feminine touch.

Thanks to Jodi and her family for letting us help them set up a beautiful room for the older sister as they make room for another little sister. :)

Happy Monday!
