The Opal Side Table - Before & After

Before We picked this little table up for $10. I was drawn to the long legs and the sweet flower crown near the top. It had a strange sort of netting fabric behind it which we took off and replaced with a wood piece.

After
We opted to layer the painting and distress it to give it some great dimension and feature all of the details.
We initially painted it a grey that we mixed up on our own and then topped it off with a nice fresh clean white. We distressed both down to the grey layers as well as the wood so we had some warmth peaking through as well. Did I mention the long legs?
I am scouring my house for a small wall so I can keep this one. I may have to move a few small things around like a queen bed and a dresser. Ugghh. We will see.

I mentioned a dresser / armoire yesterday. We ended up needing longer screws for the hardware on the top doors so I will be posting that tomorrow. I may even try to get some pictures of it in its new home at my parent's.

Happy Friday!

I love this old piece. What do you suppose that opening was for with the fabric in it? Just decorative? Really odd fabric in there..Looks great now. Knowing me- I would have to put some type of embellishment on that wood piece where the fabric was. REally cool piece! xxoo Diana

I have a table very similar to this. It is an old fashioned radio table and the mesh was probably speaker related. Mine had the mesh as well but it also has a detailed wood inlay. I didn't keep the radio, just the table and it is perfect in my entryway! Love it.

What a great piece, love the gray and wood showing thru. Wouldn't some handpainted or decopauged flowers look gorgeous in that center panel? Thanks so much for linking up with VIF!
