Desk Lamp Makeover

Before
We had been looking for a tall desk lamp and Mike brought this one home after a quick trip to the thrift shop. We opted to paint the base white and pair it with a linen shade.
After
The very bottom of the base has several levels of detail which are accentuated by the white paint.
The linen shade keeps with the simplicity of the lamp yet adds a nice contrast of color.
And I think it fits quite nicely with the decor and colors of the room.

Happy Saturday!

"How To" Class and Dear Anthro

Here we go with two completedly unrelated topics and thoughts. But honestly - this is how my head works. It is buzzing with ideas and things I want and how do I get them?

First up . . . .

Due to several inquiries lately Mike and I are discussing and working through the logistics of putting together a class to share our processes and ideas on painting. We are really excited about it and wanted to open up a discussion with all of you out there to help us out!

If you would be interested in attending such a training will you please leave me a comment or drop me a note at frostedgardner@live.com. If you have feedback or questions please let us know as well. We are pulling together ideas and would love to make this happen! The class would be held in the Davis County area and if we can get enough participants it just might actually happen. And one of the most exciting things about it is we would get a chance to meet each of you!

Next up . . .

Dear Anthro (apology),

I am sorry. As much as I want
you
and youand youand youand youand you I simply cannot afford you.
So now I have to figure out how to make you.
Which isn't going to be easy without a sewing machine or an electrician.
But
you can darn well bet I am going to try.
Warm regards,

DIY - Lamps

I posted a few weeks back that I wish I knew how to make lamp shade covers. I desperately wanted them for my little girl's bedroom.
My mom is always re-doing something in her own home and had given me three lamps a few years back. When she gave them to me the spindle was a stained wood. An ugly stained wood. I had debated painting these white to match the dressers but I still wanted to bring out the colors of the quilt on the bed.
The color pallette of the quilt is deep red, a bright green, mustard yellow, and pale pink. After bringing home about a gazillion different lamp shades and not being happy with any of them I found these red ones that match the quilt perfectly. I then rummaged through my scrapbooking paper and covered the spindles in three different patterns.

I am still looking for one more side table for this bedroom. The white sleigh bed is super tall so I need something with height. I do not have a ton of room because it will sit next to a closet. I am on the hunt.

If I Could

If I could sew I would make these.
Lamp slip covers.
I think they are wonderful.
I think they can really tie in all the features of a room . .
especially a bedroom.
Today I wish I could sew.
