The Fiona Dresser - Before & After

Before This is the dresser that we picked up for my mom. Now that she and my dad are empty nesters they have four guest bedrooms in their home. When you look close at the dresser you can see all of the amazing details that caught my eye. However, you can also see that it needed some work. One of the drawers in particular had some major damage! One whole corner was missing.
The doors had additional wood details that we removed as well as the engravings at the top of this picture we were not particularly fond of so we filled those in with wood fill.
Mike repaired the corner so it was good as new. We plugged the holes so we could add new hardware.
And now drumroll . . . .

After
I hate when the pictures do not do a piece justice and I think this is the case. My mom opted for a white semi-gloss so the lights were boucing all over this dresser! But man oh man - the details are so amazing!
Look at the pillars on both sides of the base. I think these are divine and give it a stately appearance. Just above those is a wood trim that goes all around the dresser.
The drawer just above the pillars has a very unique design and sits in front of a beadboard pattern.
My mom opted for these glass knobs to go on that one drawer. This particular knob came from Hobby Lobby and is very affordable when you find them on their 50% off sale.
You can see here that the engravings filled in nicely and now has a nice fresh look. The doors
are arched at the top and then crowned with another arched wood molding. Removing the additional wood trim from the drawers cleaned it up and we were happy with the results.
These are the colors that my mom currently has in this particular room. She is constantly swapping out quilts and colors. Just ask my dad. :) haha.
I think that this piece is a nice compliment to the room. And after delivering it to its new home my mom was quite pleased as well. She even called again last night to tell us she was happy with how it turned out. Just what we want to hear.

Up next is a little secretary type desk.

What a beautiful dresser!! I didn't even notice the pillars until after you painted it, it really makes them come to life and such a beautiful feature of the dresser! Now she can change her colors often and not have to worry about the matching the furniture!! ;)

Your mom is one lucky girl! It turned out gorgeous! I know, I really hate it when pictures don't capture how beautiful a piece really is. That's frustrating! But I can tell it's gorgeous!
