Hello September

Photobucket

It is hard to believe that September has arrived. Like so many others of you out there the Fall season is my absolute favorite. The sun becomes a bit less intense, the slight breeze cools down a some, and dusk begins to set in a bit sooner. The weather is pleasant and everything begins to change color.

We are working on custom pieces and a few of our own projects.Photobucket
Like our fireplace mantel. I am being patient. Well kinda patient.Photobucket

And the rest of our chandeliers. Perhaps this long weekend will allow us a bit of free time to paint and hang these great finds!

Enjoy our first day of September.

Studio 5 Segment September 14

Mike snapped this picture with his phone from the side of our set up on our Studio 5 segment this morning. I was super nervous and feeling a bit under the weather but we made our way through.

We discussed hardware options which was a bit harder presentation than our original segment back in July. There are so many options and there is not just one right way to do it. It is about opinion and what your eye sees. I explained how I chose hardware for a few of our pieces and why. Brooke was great as usual and invited us back in October. Our next topic is one that I am super excited to discuss.

Thanks to everyone at Studio 5. They have been great to us!
You can check out the segment on our sidebar or read our article by going to the Studio 5 home page.

Studio 5 Segment

Just this past Friday we had an amazing experience putting together a segment for Studio 5 on KSL. The show airs everyday and their hosts Brooke Walker and Darin Adams discuss several important topics such as family & relationships, money matters, health & wellness, technology, image & style, and home.

You can watch our segment here Studio 5 Furniture Find or at the top of our side bar. I have been unable to load it right in this post.

So here is how it all happened. We received an email from them this past June asking if they could do a segment on our furniture. Brooke was looking for one last piece to complete her new kitchen and was enlisting our help. After I read the email I called Mike and was jumping up and down while telling him of our good fortune. If you had told me a year ago when I started looking for second hand furniture to paint for our little girl's room that it would all lead to this I would just not have believed you! Not even for a minute!
We worked closely with Stephanie Bryson who was nothing but amazing and really pulled it all together. Our first segment was taped in our home the first part of July. I was so so so nervous. I really do not even like to have my picture taken so this was a big step for me. Stephanie and Brooke were awesome.
Once Friday of last week arrived I was getting excited for Brooke to see her final piece. I will do a whole before & after post this week!
And when she came around the corner and saw her new red buffet she really did scream. Several times! Wahoo! Just the reaction that we wanted. Her piece turned out beautifully!
This is Darin and he was great to work with as well. Even though he had not been a part of the prior segment he was right there asking the right questions and shared our energy for Brooke's new piece!

We are so grateful we had this opportunity, for the new friends we have made, and all of the positive feedback we have received through emails and comments on our blog. It has been overwhelming. Thank you to everyone and we truly mean it.

Many of the emails requested more specific painting tips and we will be posting those within the next few days. I am finding that many people are in the same position as we are. . . . a tight budget but a real need to make a change. We hope our tips will help any of you out there who are ready to do-it-yourself! And if you have questions that we have not answered please email us and we will address them.

Thank you to Stephanie, Brooke, and Darin at Studio 5. We had a wonderful time!
