The Shay Desk - Before & After

Before A close family friend found us this amazing secretary desk that sits up on tall legs and has letter slots and tiny drawers. She found a few other treasures we are excited to share as well.

After May I point out the long slender curvy legs. Ah-mazing. There are two levels of letter slots along with a middle compartment for small books.
The top shelf also has a curvy trim which gives it a feminine touch. And oh the original hardware! How could we not put these right back on. I mean seriously - who has these? They are almost one of a kind!
This litte desk is more than just a desk. It can be a greeting piece in an entry way or a bedside table. It is so versitile and functional. Now I am almost talking myself into keeping this one.

BUT
I cannot.
I kept The Opal Side Table and I cannot keep both.
No room.
I think the scalloped skirt is so charming and dainty.
This desk has been been purchased.
Thanks to Shay for helping us find some great treasures!
More to come.

I can't even remember what it was now...but I picked up a piece of furniture that has these funky pulls on it! I replaced them, but of course I have them stashed away for some future project!

Check out my treasure with similar pulls- love them! Haven't refinished the piece yet, I'm waiting for inspiration to hit. But I know I'm keeping them pulls.

Love the desk painted! I wish I had the nerve to paint wooden pieces, but I never have the nerve. Dropping by from Met Monday, with a post on repurposed shelving.

Hi first time stopping by and just want to say I love this little re-do on this desk! I have a similar one I bought from Bombay company years ago and I don't like that dark finish at all anymore...I may have to borrow your idea...someday...
