The Leigh Dresser - Before & After

BeforeThanks to my brother and sister-in-law who were done with this tall dresser and offered it to us. I have always liked the side by side door and drawers on this piece and knew once it got a fresh coat of white paint it would be good as new.
After
We also swapped out the wooden knobs for our favorite oil rubbed bronze knobs and pulls. This piece is mostly straight lines and very simple. However, at the base is a scalloped molding complimented by round feet. I always prefer pieces to be sitting a bit up off the floor instead of flush. It provides for more dimension and leaves less markings on carpets.
Does anyone else out there find old tool boxes a bit of a treasure? I know I do and this red one is no exception. It has paint flecks and markings all over it which makes it even more appealing! Behind the door is three shelves for extra storage. This piece sold rather quickly and I am not sure how our client will be using it but I envisioned it in a little girl's room or even a nursery.
Simple

and

vintage.

On Sunday I was visting some of my favorite blogs and came across this picture on
Fiona and Twig.
She is moving into this charming old home and is taking us through the rooms as they are moving in. If you have not made a visit to her - you . should!

I think her dresser and our dresser are nearly identical twins. The only difference is she has a knob on her door and we have a pull. Amazing!

When we see something similiar to what we have done - it just affirms we get it right once in a while. Especially when it is Anne over at Fiona and Twig!

I am linking to the parties on my sidebar.

They do look like twins. I love what you have done with it. Old tool boxes are great. I even have a drawer in the kitchen with all of my tools in it.Very handy and I don't have to 'borrow' anyone elses;)

Oh my dear you ALWAYS get it right!! :) This piece is just adorable! You never disappoint! I love the red tool box and I love the way you displayed it with the picture and flowers. Everything looks like it was meant to be together! That painting is really pretty!

This is a lovely piece; it looks fabulous in white!
The tool box is great...I want an old beat-up wood one someday!

Great transformation! I am so inspired by your work. I look forward to everyone of your posts. Did you have to prime that dresser before you painted it? I have a couple of pine chairs that I want to paint, and I'm not sure what to do first.
I saw that dresser on Fiona and Twig also, and loved it there.
I collect old tool boxes too. I have a couple of red ones. I like to use old utilitarian items in my decorating.
Have a wonderful day.
Blessings,
Susan

It's really beautiful in the white. Before I got to the end of your post I was also envisioning it in a child's room or nursery or even for bed linens. It's a lovely piece. I love the pop of red on top with your fun old tool box.

the dresser looks so much better painted white and with new knobs. I bought a tool box (at a garage sale) just like that for my son and he loves it for keeping little toys and treasures in

Wow, so boring before to so pretty after! I am loving the look of black pulls against white right now. How funny that you found the identical one on the other blog!

Oh, my! The dresser turned out so nice! I love it in white! You guys are amazing! And, it does look almost exactly the same as the Fiona and Twig. What are the chances?!

Your armoire looks so much prettier in white with the new pulls. It would also work well in a guest room, especially with the shelves! I am trying to get up the nerve to paint two pieces of knotty pine, one very similar to this in style, which I purchased many years ago from Ikea. They worked well in a little boy's room as pine, but now I need a change. I think that will be a summer project! Linda

Great transformation. FYI, I believe the correct name for a piece like that is a chifferobe.

I hope you can figure out a way to keep the piece pictured in your 12/9 post.

Loved the peek at the live nativity scene. Real camels? Amazing!

I was the original owner of this peice. It kept me company when I was ever so lonely in Provo. Looks amazing in white and the storage in this is awesome. Oh and it looks really good with a picture of Russell Crowe on the door. Or at least it did ten years ago.

Oh my gosh! How fun to see a twin at Anne's house! :) As usual, you saw something drab and made it dreamy, girl. Beautiful job!

Merry Christmas to you!
