Before We have done two dining sets just like this one. You can see the vintage white set here and the other classic black set here. However, this is the first time we have found two captain chairs and they give the set some great character. This set went to a family who purchased a black hutch from us so I think this will compliment it nicely.
After
This pedestal table has some great wood detail around the molding. With a bit of distressing it really pops and gives the hem of the table a nice polished finish. At the base of the pedestal are four support legs with the classic claw feet which gives it great dimension.
These chairs have so much detail! If you ever decide to finish one of these sets for yourself be prepared to spend some time in the garage sanding and distressing! There are so many little spindles and edges to capture.
I love little glass bottles and they can be used in so many different ways. You can see a few I have in my collection here. I look for a variety of colors and shapes. If you are thinking of freshing up the look of your dining area a fresh coat of paint and some sanding would be a great option. And better yet - it wouldn't cut into your budget which is a worry for so many of us today.
Up next we are putting the finish touches on a sweet little rocking chair we picked up last week. Our little one has claimed it as hers. Whenever she hears us mention that it will be for sale she is quick to pipe in "no, that one is mine". It is a unique little shape and fits her quite nicely. I believe it will make its new home with us. We have painted it white and softly distressed it.
We are also getting started on a black hutch that will be available to purchase. PLUS we have been invited back to KSL Studio 5 for another show in September so we are preparing for that as well.
Wishing you a happy peaceful day.

Just gorgeous but I can see that one taking a lot of time!
I have one of these sets sitting in my workshop right now. What was your method for the detail distressing? Any tips? I'm going to do mine gray with a dark walnut top, to match the buffet I did not long ago. http://twicelovely.blogspot.com/2010/07/sultry-gray-sideboard.html
You'll remember that I was one of your first seventy five followers when you become famous, right? Congratulations on the second invite.
The table and chairs look gorgeous. You did a fantastic job...Kathy
That turned out beautiful! I love all the little detail. You did such a great job distressing all the detail to make it really pop! You guys continue to amaze me! I love it!!
melanie, it looks great! i love all the details on it. it's a really nice set that definitely gives weight to a dining area.
I have had that exact set for the past 19 years. However I have 6 chairs and a leaf that extends the table to 72 inches. I was really tired of looking at it so I decided to paint it....black. I just finished the last chair last night. It took me 6 days, a chair a day. (I take a lot of breaks) I'm not so sure I am going to tackle the table, it was such a job doing the chairs. I decided things don't have to match. Right??
Yours turned out great though.
I have a table that I really want done so I would love to go to a class or at least find out how much you would charge to redo them for me.
I used to have a set like that in my first apartment....sadly, I don't have it anymore. You did a great job, it looked like a lot of work!

I love it! I really like how the wood shows on some of the detailed spots. I bet it really was a lot of work with all of that detail.

I'm crazed for colored bottles. I love them outside where the sun shines through them. But this dining table is absolutely magnificent!
