If you have been following our blog for long you will remember The Lucas Hutch. After it was completed we decided we liked it so much that we kept it and turned it into Our Lucas Entertainment Center. And to do so we pulled the doors off and they have been sitting there ever since. Until this past week when they received a special makeover for a very special cause.
We took the four doors and converted them into hook boards. We donated two of the boards along with some other items to Davis Cox and kept two of the boards for our own bathroom makeovers.

very nice looking and nice hutch turned enter. ctr
Oh Melanie those are so beautiful!!! What a great idea, both the hutch/entertainment center and the hook boards!! The boards are going to look great in your bathroom!
You have inspired me!!! My daughter-in-law is wanting all NEW furniture for her 3 year old's room. I think this is foolish although I have been smart enough to keep my mouth shut about it. However, I decided if I could find a piece of some sort do a cuxtom refinish on it and make it look good, she might be open to looking for a used set on which we can do a custom refinish and save a bunch of money. As luck would have it. I found a hutch that is being removed from a house behind me and I went over and asked about it. It's mine FREE. It is a custom built piece and I think would be perfect for the alcove in my DIL's entry. When it gets to the house, I'm going to take some pictures and hopefully get started on it quickly. If she doesn't like it, I will put it in my sewing room for storage. You have gotten me all excited about re-purposing furniture.
What a great idea! Also, I loved your spot on Studio 5--nice job, and you deserve the recognition!
Beautiful job, Melanie! Hey, okay, what if we blog swap a project like this...not really painting furniture, since we do that all the time....whatcha think?? -shaunna :)
What a clever way to use your doors, Melanie. I like how they turned out as well as your beautiful hutch. Also, so wonderful that you donated to such a great cause. My heart goes out to Davis Cox. I will keep him in my thoughts.

Great idea and transformation. I always see headboards at thrift shops and think of making a coat rack, too, but I haven't done it yet. Now I'll have to since yours is beautiful! And winter is coming!
