The West Rocking Chair - Custom Refinish Before & After

Before We finished this dresser for the West family a few weeks back and then Scott contacted us shortly before Christmas to help him pull together a sweet Christmas surprise for his wife. Alright ladies, I think we all know how sweet that is! They have a six month old baby boy and she has been wanting a new rocking chair for his nursery. This is what we came up with . . .

After

We found a beautiful chunky chair with some great details at the top. The chunky spindles provide great character to the chair. I think a home cannot have enough rocking chairs. We currently have five! Thanks to Scott and Lisa - we hope you enjoy rocking your sweet baby boy.

Can you believe Christmas has come and gone? I am enjoying the week away from the office and hoping to organize a few things at home. Our little one has had a bit of the croup and has been super grumpy but hopefully we are past the worst and on to better days. We are looking forward to celebrating New Years with the big kids and family. Plus we have some great pieces just waiting for their makeover! Up next is hall tree that was donated to us by some great friends. I have not posted it yet because I want to keep it and I am trying to think of where I can put it. It just turned out perfect! Plus I am also getting ready for our "One For Me One For You" giveaway.

Happy Holidays!

Melanie- The chair is perfect! I love it. I thought at first you had used a bit of gilt/gold to hightlight all the high spots...and then realized you had "worn" it a bit. Looks great! xxoo Diana

What a precious chair and a precious story! :) You did another lovely job my friend! I love rocking chairs as well, they remind me of when I was younger and had ear infections all the time! My mom would rock me into the wee hours trying to sooth me in a rocking chair that is very similar to that one. :)

I hope your little one is feeling better and I am sure that you have rocked her gently this week to help make her feel better. Have a wonderful week and Happy New Year!!

I love rocking chairs and I'm with you...a home can never have too many! You did a fantastic job on that chair. The detail really stands out. What a sweet Christmas surprise! Christmas sure seemed to come and go quickly. I'm enjoying our tree and all the decorations until after New Years. Hope your daughter is feeling better, Melanie.

A home cannot have enough rocking chairs. I bought one at a tag sale last fall and I absolutely love it but I have many more, too. Love 'em. Liking your blog, too. Linda

I just re-did some old desk chairs for my craft room by painting them black and sanding the edges...they ended up looking just like this! And I have a very similar rocking chair in the same room...after seeing this, I think it will be getting the same treatment! Oh...and you have my dream job by the way!!!! Maybe one day....
