Old Artwork Landscape Series 12

When coming up with a title for this post I was at a loss. So in all honesty - the whole Landscape Series 12 was just something that I made up. The twelve comes from the approximate number of paintings I have picked up this past year at various yard sales, thrift stores, and purchased from KSL. It sounded official and maybe caught your attention? This picture was hanging above the fabulous McCleary buffet and I was a bit surprised no reader asked me about it. Ha! Kidding! I know not everyone shares my love for these old paintings. My hubby being one and my mom another. But hey - we are all entitled to our own opinions and taste. I don't know what my attraction is but we all have busy lives with families, i phones, laptops, church callings, volunteer work, and day to day activities. These paintings display a setting of peace, quietness, long days, and warmth which we all long for as we get through the day. Another thing I like about these old things are the frames. Typically they are quite detailed and already have a natural worn look. I particularly like this one with the levels of detail in the golden colors yet dulled with a bit of old grey peaking through.
So tell me what you think.
Do you love?
Do you despise?
Do you kinda think you might like it?

Did I mention I paid $1.00 for this one?
Did I mention that?

Melanie I really like that painting. I don't remember seeing it, but I am not the most observant of people sometimes. :) I get so caught up in your furniture that I don't look past all that beauty, so I do apologize. :) I love old paintings for the reason that you stated. This one is really pretty. It takes me away to a place of peace and solitude...oh how I long for that somedays! :) I did notice, I think, that a few of the paintings that you pick out have rivers and mountains in the background. I can think of an old painting that my grandparents had of a river and mountains in the background as well. It was so beautiful and I would stare at sometimes and get lost in it. It had pastel hues and vibrant whites. It also had river rocks just like the one in your pic. I just loved it and I kick myself for not taking it. Anyway, long story short, I love your old paintings and I am so glad that you have given them new life in a wonderful home! :)

Hi Melanie, I love. My Dad's an artist, and so is my Husband. Husband is painting stills at the moment but my Dad has mostly always painted landscapes. I think yours is beautiful, really really pretty. It takes a special eye to be a landscape painter, one who loves nature, and finds beauty in the smallest of detail.

Hi. Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment on my vanity post. I do love your painting, and I, too, am drawn to old pics and paintings and unique frames. I'm sure it is even more beautiful in real life. Amazing bargain for $1!

What I like best about the painting is your description of it reminding you of a simpler, more relaxed time in life. I can certainly understand why you are drawn to them when they evoke such feelings and there aren't many ways to feel that way for a dollar anymore! Ann

I love & I really love that you got if for that price. Art isn't worth a dime if it isn't beautiful to you :) i totally agree about how serene & peaceful they are, and also they are one of a kind ~ which is hard to find, these days!

i love vintage art, especially the paintings. they just have so much character and it's fun to think about the artist and the life they lived and the world they saw.

This is a great painting, but I have what other people call, "old lady" taste. I love "granny" sweaters and broaches and all things old. So, yes I do think I could love it, especially for $1.

Your furniture is amazing.

Did I say that I am really jealous! You deserve all these great finds because you work so hard. I collect vintage paintings, because someone has to SAVE them, before they are dumped by uncaring relatives.(This is my rationalization of my ebay bills) Most of mine are very similar, Mountains, trees, and water. I try to buy all the Yosemite ones I can afford, and have found some really great ones. Keep up the good work! Ann

Oh, I love! I love landscapes. I am always on the look for them also. I picked up 2 just a few weeks ago at DI. The autumn one is on my blog. They cost me $5.00 each. Your's are real treasures and costing $1 is fabulous. I have noticed a few of your landscapes on your blog. Thanks for sharing.
