The West Dresser - Custom Refinish Before & After

Before
We had a darling family from Pleasant Grove bring us this dresser to refinish in our classic black. They found this piece on KSL knowing they wanted it refinished and I have to say they picked out a good one!
After
I really like the doors on this piece because they are so simple yet gives it so much more character. They almost resemble a paneled type door which is so classic.
Our client chose oil rubbed bronze hardware with two knobs on the top drawers and doors and cup pulls on the bottom four drawers.
This dresser has so many straight lines and then it sits up on these legs that have a ball shaped element at the top of the leg.
I want to quickly mention that I bought some new maps and tea stained them so they looked antiqued and old and put them in some black frames that I have had sitting around. I think old maps are fun to use whether framed or just hanging on a wall.
These old dressers are so great to refinish and use to display flat screen tvs. All of the drawers provide alot of storage for movies, electronics, and kids toys!

Thanks to the West family. We hope to see you again soon!

This piece is gorgeous. I have a tall chest of drawers that I am thinking about painting black to go in my guest bedroom. It is oak, but I am tired of the oak color. You have inspired me. Now to just figure out what paint to use. Love & blessings from NC!

It looks like a very substantial piece, and the black is perfect for it. Love the distressing and the hardware.

It is amazing how much the dresser changed from before to after. I love your rubbing technique (that is not easy to master!) and how the hardware looks with it. You're right- one of those dressers would be great for a wall mounted tv!

I have been making over furniture and most recently redid a hutch in black. So I should not be surprised at what a difference a bit of paint should make. Yet I always am amazed. This piece looks completely different. It's a stunner, thanks to your TLC!
