School Teacher's Chair - Custom Refinish Before & After

Before This is an old school teacher's chair that has seen many days of wear and tear. Just what we like because it gives it so much character! After it served its purpose in the classroom it was used out in the garage. We all have those old chairs used to set tools on, hold boxes, climb on etc. Well this sweet chair is no different. The seat was a bit greasy from the garage use and one of the legs had split. Mike glued it and clamped it along with a few other minor repairs.
Check this leg out. Good as new! Our client picked out a paint color called Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware and I just couldn't get over how perfect it was. We have hunted for a nice grey / green and now we found it. Finally!
After
This chair turned out perfectly. What is better than an old piece with many memories getting a fresh coat of paint along with a few minor repairs. I think that this chair will be around for many more years to come. The repaired leg looks good as new. I think that the four legs and foot rest gives it so much character and depth! Wouldn't four of these work beautifully as barstools around a big kitchen island!

We have been searching for a petite old antique typewriter and this one was just what we were looking for. We found it for a super deal and it has all of the features I wanted.
We hope our client is very happy with her new chair! And thank her for helping us find such a nice solid paint color. It is currently being used for my very own desk makeover!
I have been looking for something like this that I can use at home and we found this one at a yard sale for $10 last weekend. The trim has peeled off and it has several scratches but I love the shape of it and all the drawers. I cannot wait to show the reveal!

Happy Friday.

That turned out so beautiful! I love the color! It is so great that you can take old, worn furniture like that that I am sure has some stories to tell and make it new again! Call me sentimental but I feel so bad when things of history are destroyed or forgotten. It is so great to see you make their stories come back to life!
Can't wait to see the desk!!

The chair looks great! Silver Sage is one of our favorite colors! We have a room in our house painted in Silver Sage. It's the perfect gray-green and has so much depth to it. Fun color for a chair! I love the typewriter!

i love it! love the style and oclor and i need it for my workdesk! i have an adorable chair with a caned seat that my son stuck his knee through. now everytime the seat gets ahold of my derriere a little more tears... it hurts my ego, and it doesn't look good! this is super cute!

LOve all the CLAMPS...I will have to show my husband that he has a little competition as he thought he was the King of clamping!
Its kind of been a joke for years at our home, he clamps everything and seems to love it, one clamp is never enough!
nice work and very nice to meet you in the shop. brenda

That is so great and that paint color is soo perfect. I have a whole aray of clamps and use them often, of course sometimes duct tape will do the trick!
