Layla over at The Lettered Cottage is having a Christmas mantel link up party today and I just had to be a part of it! Although our fireplace and mantle is very very simple and sits in the corner of our living room I tried to work with the space and elements that I had.
Keeping with the simplicity of our room I added some white lights to some garland that includes rusty old stars and black berries that we used at our wedding reception a few years back. I made the little banner just beneath the mantel with some old paper that Mike uses to wrap and protect drawers while painting.
Next up I found this old iron headboard on KSL for a great price and it was located right near my neighborhood which made it even more appealing! Because we do not actually use this fireplace I was safe to lean it against the wall and hang three red pottery barn stockings from it.

I'm slowly starting to take over my boyfriend's mantle because they're so fun to decorate (starting with a Christmas wreath) I love book wreaths like yours though, and might just have to make an "all season" one to hang above his mantle because yours looks so good!
