The Peterson Hutch - Custom Refinish Before & After

Before The Petersons saw us on Studio 5 this past summer and brought us this hutch last week. It is a sweet little thing and quite simple and frankly that is why I like it so much.

After
It is clean cut with straight lines. It is very functional and filled with shelves for storage. Lisa wanted a robin egg blue similar to a color that we used on our little one's dresser found here. It is a custom mix of 50% Behr's Liquid Blue with 50% white. How is that for a technical formula? We kept the original hinges that sit on the outside of the doors. I would never opt to switch these types of hinges because I think they add so much character to a piece. We replaced the hardware which was two wooden knobs with these oil rubbed bronze pulls. I would recommend these types of pulls for just about anything. The only paint color I would not put these on is red. I would opt for black with red. And there you go - my unsolicited tip for the day! Thanks to the Petersons for having us make over their hutch! They are getting ready to send their oldest son on an LDS mission and we wish them all the best!

Up next we are working on an old door for a special little girl. . my sweet niece Paisley.

  7. As always, perfection! And I don't think I've ever mentioned it, but I love that you name your pieces. So much more clever than trying to come up with a title for yet another dresser :) That blue is gorgeous!

I plan on doing this to my night stands and an old tv cabinet that I want to remake into a computer chest.
