Here we go with two completedly unrelated topics and thoughts. But honestly - this is how my head works. It is buzzing with ideas and things I want and how do I get them?
First up . . . .
Due to several inquiries lately Mike and I are discussing and working through the logistics of putting together a class to share our processes and ideas on painting. We are really excited about it and wanted to open up a discussion with all of you out there to help us out!
If you would be interested in attending such a training will you please leave me a comment or drop me a note at frostedgardner@live.com. If you have feedback or questions please let us know as well. We are pulling together ideas and would love to make this happen! The class would be held in the Davis County area and if we can get enough participants it just might actually happen. And one of the most exciting things about it is we would get a chance to meet each of you!

I wish I lived closer, I would love to attend. At one time Target had a shower curtain that looked similar to the one you showed. Love & blessings from NC!

ReplyDeleteI am loving those lights:) Urban outfitters has a ruffly shower curtain that I just got. It would have cost me much more to make. But I will make a curtain to match:)

ReplyDeleteI would be a sure-thing for the class if I lived just a teensy bit closer :) I know a class would be more fun, but what about an e-book that people could purchase? I would buy that in a heartbeat!

ReplyDeleteit's alot of trial and error tho.. Painting is something you either enjoy doing or NOT.. I find it relaxing.. ..you can always learn more and possible avoid some of the errors..??
As for the curtains they look really easy to sew.. and the lights look like Fireplace tool handles with light kits screwed on to them.. ahahhah.. they look easy too.. but as for wanting them... no not so much..

Actually those lights look like the handles on my Rotiserrie stick thing from my barbecue grill.. it already even has a threaded end on it and a hole down the middle for the cord.. I bet a trip to Goodwill could start this project off on the right foot. I've seen the cage thingy..at Home Depot in the work light section or maybe an outdoor bug light.? ughh you've got my brain spinnin.. lol..

I would definitely be interested in a class if you decide to hold one. I've refinished a couple of small pieces but haven't tried anything big yet!

I like that kind of attitude. If I like it in a store, how do I recreate it myself instead of paying those high prices. Those little ruffle shades are adorable. I have a feeling after peeking at some of your projects, you will soon be figuring out the sewing machine.

ReplyDeleteI don't live near you, but I would buy an e-book for $10. Altar'd has one, but I haven't bought it yet. You might get a student who lives near you to produce it for independent credit at her school.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented. Why don't you trade your painting work with someone who sews? And someone who can make those lamps. I've seen knockoffs already. I'll bet you can make them out of farm things, or coat hangers, or floral wire. Post something on your blog and see what comes in. If you really want to learn to sew, I'll bet someone near you will trade you lessons for something. But, I'd would trade painting and get someone else to sew. There are always solutions, just think outside the box. Can you teach a continuing education class at a high school or junior high and make some money to buy these things? Good luck. ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite creative people has made one of the lamps you like. Go to junkmarketstyle.com They have a million projects, but his name is Jim Healy. also listed as junkarchitect. He has made at least two of those lamps. What might be good for the wire, would be a wire horse feeder. They are a little bigger and deeper than a colander. Ann
